Deanery transfer window opens for trainees

  • Date: 25 September 2013

TRAINEE doctors who want to move to another deanery due to unexpected changes in their personal circumstances can do so from next week.

The inter-deanery transfer process (IDT) opens on October 1 at 4pm and closes on October 29 at 4pm.

The scheme, run by Shared Services, allows specialty trainees who have experienced “unforeseen and significant changes in their personal lives” to move to a new area.

Shared Services provides support services to the London Deanery and NHS London, which were incorporated as part of the Health and Social Care Act. It will oversee IDTs for the whole of the UK.

BMA junior doctors committee joint deputy chair Tim Yates said: “We would encourage all junior doctors considering an IDT to carefully read the guidance available from London’s Shared Services, the BMA website and to contact us with any queries.”
