Childcare voucher changes delayed

PLANS to scrap an employer-backed childcare voucher scheme for new applicants have been delayed by six months following a House of Commons debate.

The current scheme is used by almost half-a-million parents. It had been due to close to new applicants from April and replaced by the government’s new tax-free childcare voucher initiative.

However, the new system called tax-free childcare has been beset with a series of technical problems since its launch last year with take-up well below expectations. Further details can be found here
