Update on CQC's regulatory approach

The Care Quality Commission has provided an update on its regulatory approach in response to Covid-19

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has said that it wants to be clear that for the time being it will continue to only undertake inspection activity in response to a serious risk of harm or where it supports the system’s response to the pandemic.

It will continue to act to keep people safe from harm, protecting their human rights while supporting providers to focus on delivering care, including the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

The CQC will also only undertake inspection activity that either helps create capacity to respond to Covid-19 or that responds to significant risk of harm to the public.

The full update, which can be viewed here, details specific activity that CQC will continue to undertake for primary care, adult social care and registration.
