Through their work with MDDUS, they have developed a thorough understanding of the general practice and general dental practice sectors, and are highly experienced in providing a range of support services designed to enable partners and practice managers to identify, manage and reduce areas of risk within their practices. Employment Tribunal Services
Dealing with a claim against your practice at an employment tribunal can be a stressful and costly experience, both financially and in terms of time. Law At Work's experienced legal team offer fixed cost employment tribunal representation services to those practices not currently covered by the MDDUS indemnity. Law At Work have an excellent track record in successfully defending clients at tribunal, offering a seamless service that encompasses all aspects of employment tribunal work, including:
- Preparing and lodging the practice’s response to the claim (ET3)
- Negotiating settlement with the claimant / their representative
- Preparing for a tribunal hearing
- Representation at tribunal hearing

HR Project Management and Consultancy

Law At Work’s public training program has something for everyone, and MDDUS members receive the LAW client discount (up to 50 per cent). Employment law training includes:
- Six-monthly employment law updates, keeping you up to date with changing legislation
- Half-day Focus On sessions covering specific topics such as absence management, dealing with problem performers, cutting the cost of sickness absence
- Employment law basics boot camp: available in one or two day blocks, and ideal if you need to 'dabble' in HR but have no formal qualifications
- Employment law masterclass: a full day session which blends a legislation update with a focus on key legal hotspots.
Health & safety courses include:
- Six-monthly health & safety updates, keeping you up to date with changing legislation
- IOSH Managing Safely: a four-day, nationally-accredited qualification covering the basics of health & safety management.
These sessions focus on equipping delegates with the knowledge and tools they need in order to deal effectively with people management issues in the practice.
Health & Safety Audits
Law At Work's health and safety audit service examines both the policies and documentation you have in place, and the practice's processes and procedures.
As part of the documentation audit, Law At Work will carry out a full review of health and safety policies, following this with a full written report detailing recommendations for improvements. They can also provide wording and new documentation as needed.
Law At Work's on-site General Risk and Compliance Audit (GRCA) examines the procedures and processes of the practice, against the context of the management of Health and Safety at Work regulations. Following the GRCA, Law At Work will provide a written report detailing all areas of non-compliance or concern, grading the risks with regard to their implications. They will also prepare a management action plan for the practice, which maps out your route to health and safety compliance, and delegating responsibilities throughout the practice team.
Cost: Document audit £450, GRCA £750, combined audit £1,050 (all costs excluding VAT)
Health & Safety Advisory Service
Mirroring the MDDUS HR advisory service, Law At Work can offer you unlimited 24/7 access to their health and safety experts. Their team can provide your practice with all the support and guidance you need to answer general queries and deal with any incidents or accidents in the workplace.
Cost: £450 per annum (excluding VAT)
All of Law At Work's services are charged at a fixed cost, agreed in advance, enabling members to budget accurately. This also eliminates the cost disincentive to make best use of their support.
