A new platform promises to bring insight from the frontline of healthcare directly to those shaping policy and public debate.
The Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS) has launched its digital newsroom: “News.mddus.com”. The platform provides news, insight and expert commentary from across its community of healthcare professionals and experts.
Award-winning journalist Melanie Reid, and blogger and haematologist Dr Chris Tiplady are among several independent contributors.
Exclusive insight from MDDUS' membership surveys will also be shared on the site. In previous years MDDUS research has exposed the compassion fatigue crisis in healthcare and has been cited in government legislation on non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
Now, for the first time, there will be a dedicated home to host the results of past and future surveys.
This digital newsroom will explain key topics such as wellbeing, regulation and workforce pressures, to help journalists, policymakers and stakeholders understand the challenges facing those working in healthcare today.
Chris Kenny, Chief Executive of MDDUS said, "Too often the authentic voices of doctors and dentists are missing from the conversations that shape the healthcare system around them.
“Policy is debated. Regulation is elaborated. Technology advances. Yet the clinicians delivering care on the frontline are not heard in those discussions.
We’re working to change that. Our MDDUS microsite is a true first of its kind for our doctors and dentists. A hub for healing. A place to hear and be heard.”
Moving forwards, MDDUS press releases will be published on the new site only.
