MDDUS Chair pays tribute to Dame Clare Marx

Professor Iain Cameron, Chair of MDDUS, said: “Everyone at MDDUS is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Clare Marx.

“Dame Clare’s contribution to medicine, both as a surgeon and as an expert adviser across many reviews and investigations, was substantial.

“She was a valued mentor and role model, and a source of inspiration to many. As the first woman to hold the role of President of the Royal College of Surgeons as well as the first woman to become chair of the General Medical Council, she will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, and for championing diversity in medicine.

“Our thoughts are with Dame Clare’s family and friends.”
