MDDUS reaffirms unique benefits of dental indemnity - and warns of dangers of other models

PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release: Monday, 7 September 2015

Following on from the MDDUS sponsored BDA Scottish Scientific Conference in Glasgow, MDDUS is writing to all its Scottish members to set out the benefits of its unique product, service and experience and to explain the risks that those considering moving to commercial insurance may face.

MDDUS Chief Executive Chris Kenny said:

“Our Scottish dental members receive a service that is second to none – our team of expert dento-legal advisers available 24 hours a day backed by in-house and external lawyers have more experience in managing claims and regulatory actions than anybody else in the Scottish dental protection market.

“The combination of our mutual status, lifetime protection and flexible use of discretion in our members’ interests gives greater protection than the commercial alternatives available.”

MDDUS Non-Executive Director and Dental Practice Committee member Dr Robert Donald added:

“Dentists have patients to serve and businesses to run. They want certainty of protection when a claim is made or they face a GDC complaint. Having to check the fine print of an insurance policy in those circumstances or worrying about what happens about claims made after their retirement is the last thing they need in current testing times.

“I’m convinced that MDDUS gives the professional, responsive and good value service we all require.”
