Lyall qualified as a dentist with a BDS with commendation from the University of Glasgow in 2013 and worked for 11 years in mixed NHS/private general dental practice. During this time, he passed the membership exams of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and spent time as a member of the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Local Dental Committee. He achieved an MSc in Restorative Dentistry with distinction from the University of Birmingham in 2024. He now works part time at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School as a specialty dentist in Restorative dentistry and in private practice as a Dentist with a Special Interest in Endodontics. He has a keen interest in dental law and ethics and is about to embark on a postgraduate course in this field.
