Risk Management: Good practice in record keeping for doctors - session three

The final part of this interactive course which is designed for any doctor. The course comprises three, two hour sessions which take place on 22 and 29 April 2021 and 13 May 2021. All courses take place between 1pm and 3pm on their scheduled day

This interactive course comprises three, two hour sessions over consecutive weeks and is designed for any doctor. The focus throughout is on the key medico-legal requirements and frameworks associated with good record keeping. Each session comprises a mixture of content delivery and self-directed learning/case discussion in breakout groups.

  • Session one – 22 April 2021: Delegates will explore common pitfalls in record keeping and the ways in which medical records can be used to support you when medical action arises.
  • Session two - 29 April 2021: GMC guidance in relation to record keeping will be highlighted, along with the importance of documenting key aspects of the consent process and documentation associated with use of chaperones.
  • Session three - 13 May 2021: This final session will review how delegates can ensure medical records comply with data protection legislation and requirements. The common pitfalls associated new technology/ways of working and the impact on patient confidentiality will also be explored.

This course is jointly led by MDDUS risk advisers, Kay Grant and Alan Frame.

This course has been accredited by the Royal College of Physicians for 6 CPD credits.

To take part in this workshop:

  • You must be able to access and join a Zoom meeting from whatever device you choose to use.
  • Participants require a PC or laptop which has either a webcam and microphone integrated (or attached). Alternatively delegates can use a tablet/phone (although some functionality may be unavailable and you may not be able to see all delegates).
  • Participants must be willing to share their names and webcam with other participants whilst attending the workshop.
