FROM October 1, the following changes apply in the rate of the National Minimum Wage:

- 21 years and over – increase from £6.31 to £6.50

- 18–20 years – increase from £5.03 to £5.13

- 16–17 years – increase from £3.72 to £3.79

- Apprenticeship rate – increase from £2.68 to £2.73

Also from October, partners will have the right to two unpaid ante-natal appointments. This right covers those who are in a qualifying relationship.
