PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release: Tuesday, 30 May 2017

MDDUS is delighted to announce a new partnership with Lincolnshire LMC (LLMC) to provide GP practices with a tailored and competitive indemnity package for new recruits from the EU.

NHS England has commissioned LLMC to assist in the delivery of the GP Forward View target of an additional 5,000 GPs by 2020, including 500 GPs from overseas. As part of the programme, LLMC is taking on up to 25 GPs from across the EU, with MDDUS chosen as the preferred provider of indemnity, offering access to advice and support.

MDDUS Director of Development David Sturgeon said:

“Models of care are changing and we are delighted to work alongside LLMC to provide their new recruits with a tailored product with competitive rates and flexible indemnity arrangements. These new recruits will have access to expert advice and support as well as all our MDDUS education programmes and online resources.

“The Lincolnshire pilot is to become a blueprint for similar schemes across the country and we are delighted that LLMC has chosen MDDUS as a partner for this initiative. We positively support NHS England and other commissioners in both the recruitment and retention of GPs and look forward to developing similar ventures with other organisations.

“Membership of MDDUS continues to provide a comprehensive range of benefits. We seek to evolve our products to keep pace with the changing market while remaining committed to providing a high-quality, responsive and personal service and championing the best interests of our members.”

Dr Kieran Sharrock, Medical Director of Lincolnshire LMC said:

“We are pleased to have agreed an indemnity package with MDDUS that meets the needs of our new recruits and we look forward to working together with MDDUS on this initiative.

“These new recruits will have a six to 12 month supported training programme, followed by two years of support and mentoring to help them become fully integrated into general practice.

“The population of Lincolnshire will benefit from additional doctors and we aim to improve workforce issues that have put so much stress on our overworked practices.”
