Diversity and inclusion

MDDUS is committed to being an inclusive employer and we welcome and celebrate diversity. 

We are part of the Association of Financial Mutual's (AFM) Mutual Diversity Alliance, and have colleagues across the business who work to raise awareness for diversity and inclusion. We have a calendar of events each year, developed by our Employee Forum and Diversity and Inclusion group where we promote different topics. 

Getting to know MDDUS

The Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland is a mutual not-for-profit defence organisation founded in 1902 by and for healthcare professionals. 

With a workforce of over 200 colleagues and offices located in Glasgow and London, we have a wide-ranging team of colleagues including qualified doctors, dentists, practice managers, and lawyers who are all widely recognised for their medico and dento-legal expertise.  

Our purpose is to support and protect our membership of over 56,000 medical and dental professionals throughout their career across the UK.

Charity and wellbeing

MDDUS encourages colleagues to take part in charity events that are important to them through our annual wellbeing calendar of events. 

With charity matching, MDDUS will match up to £100 that is raised by colleagues for any registered charity. 

We offer a payroll giving scheme whereby colleagues can donate to their chosen charity direct from their salary each month. MDDUS will match any donation made up to £10 per month. 

Climate change

We are dedicated to building a sustainable business and playing our part in tackling climate change. 

We are working towards the goals of our climate strategy, engaging colleagues to generate ideas and assist us in reducing our carbon footprint.

We have developed a clear understanding of our impact on the environment and have set science-based targets to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
