Brendan Sweeney

Brendan spent 35 years as a partner in the same practice in south-west Glasgow, retiring from clinical medicine in 2010. He retains a lifelong interest in the training of GPs and was, for a number of years, the chairman of the West of Scotland Committee of Post Graduate Training in General Practice. He was vice-chairman of Council of the Royal College of GPs in London for three years and chairman of the Committee on Medical Ethics of RCGP for seven years. In 1997, he gave the annual invited Mackenzie Lecture to the AGM of RCGP, and in 2002 was awarded an MBE for services to medical ethics. (Appointed to the Board in 1997)
