As part of your Practice’s range of risk management activities, we can provide a comprehensive desktop audit of your current HR documentation, including contracts of employment, HR policies and staff handbooks. Having well written, legally compliant documentation and procedures in place provides a sound basis for the employment relationship, and can help to avoid disputes with employees. Following our audit of your Practice’s existing documentation, we will provide you with a written report outlining any gaps or areas that require revision. Our legal team will assist you to make the necessary changes, providing new documentation and suggested working where necessary.

Dealing with a claim against your Practice to the Employment Tribunal can be a stressful and costly experience, both financially and in terms of time. Our experienced Legal Team will be pleased to offer fixed cost Employment Tribunal representation services to those Practices not currently covered by the MDDUS indemnity. MDDUS members can access our training services in a number of ways. Law At Work runs a full programme of open access HR and Health & Safety related training courses and workshops, covering a variety of topics, including:
Law At Work collaborates on a number if MDDUS-hosted training sessions throughout the year, specifically designed for doctors, dentists, practice managers, and their teams. These range from traditional classroom style training sessions, to mock Employment Tribunals, and workshops at the annual Practice Managers’ conference.
In addition, we regularly contribute to Protected Learning Time events for a number of Community Health Partnerships across the country. Mainly delivered to Practice Managers, these sessions focus on equipping delegates with the knowledge and tools they need in order to deal effectively with people management issues in the Practice.
Our Health & Safety audit service examines both the policies and documentation you have in place, and the Practices processes and procedures.
As part of the documentation audit, we will carry out a full review of Health and Safety policies, following this with a full written report detailing our recommendations for improvements. As with our HR Compliance service, we can provide you with wording and new documentation as needed.
Our on-site General Risk & Compliance Audit (GRCA) examines the procedures and processes of the Practice, against the context of the Management of health and Safety at Work Regulations. Following the GRCA, we will provide you with a written report detailing all areas of non-compliance or concern, grading the risks with regard to their implications. We will also prepare a Management Action Plan for the practice, which maps out your route to Health & Safety compliance, and delegating responsibilities throughout the Practice team.
Cost: Document audit £450, GRCA £750, combined audit £1050 (all costs excluding VAT)
Mirroring the MDDUS HR advisory service, we can offer you unlimited 24/7 access to our Health & Safety experts. Our team can provide your Practice with all the support and guidance you need to answer general queries and deal with any incidents or accidents in the workplace.
Cost: £450 per annum (excluding VAT)
All of their services are charged at a fixed cost, agreed in advance, enabling members to budget accurately. This also eliminates the cost disincentive to make best use of their support.
