Truth in dental advertising

15 July 2010

The GDC is looking for views on its new guidance on ethical advertising.

The purpose is to ensure that all information or publicity material such as flyers or adverts about dental services are "legal, decent, honest and truthful".

The GDC’s ethical guidance Standards for dental professionals sets a number of expectations relevant to advertising and the new guidance will provide more detailed information on what is expected of dental professionals in this regard. The consultation looks at a number of issues including:

  • using specialist titles
  • advertising the provision of dental appliances
  • information which should be on dental professionals’ websites.

The consultation will run between 8 July and 1 October 2010 and can be access on the GDC website.
